CONNECT engages at-risk or disadvantaged young people in
the community to positive lifestyle activities and positive role
models when, due to their circumstances, these chances would
not be available.
Young people are often in situations where they lack a positive
influence in their lives or can have difficulty identifying the right
people to connect with in order to grow and learn.
Sometimes a young person only needs to feel that someone cares
about them enough to help them in order to give them a new
lease on life, avoid negative behaviours and have a positive view
on the future.
Community Engagement Support
If you are working with a young person as their case manager or
teacher please contact us to see if they qualify for financial
support to engage in or stay involved in their sport or recreational
activities. You will be asked to provide clear information about the
young person's reasons for needing our assistance and the
reasons why they need to be involved in the activity.
The foundation prides itself on being creative and responsive. If
we meet barriers we will persevere and find a way to help.
Mentoring
The foundation has a number of mentoring programs now
operating. One on one and group mentoring programs are
operational in schools, community and in guardianship residential
facilities.
Our mentoring programs have the reputation of providing
personalised and creative support which always takes the
individual needs of the young person into account. Our mentors
all promote the foundation harm prevention philosophy and
always take every step to ensure that the young person they are
working with is given every possible chance to succeed by helping
to set appropriate and achievable goals.
Young people supported by our mentors will usually show
improved attendance, behaviour and peer relationships as well as
community engagement. Our mentors make a difference.
