Sammy D Inaugural Golf Day

Mother nature certainly turned some fantastic weather for our inaugural Sammy D Foundation golf day. With Dean Brogan, Darren Lehmann and Wayne Phillips (pictured above) joining in on the fun a great time was had by all. Fifty Two people turned up between 7 and 7:30 am to fuel up on egg and bacon rolls for the five or as in one groups case 6 hours out on the golf course.

We were lucky enough to have REYNELLA HYUNDAI involved putting up a Hyundai i30 for a hole in one prize. (see picture below) Nobody managed a hole in one on the day maybe the pressure of the prize being next to the Tee off area that got to some. A big thanks to the 2 volunteers that sat at the par 3 8th hole and saw some of the worst golf shots played all day. There were a few exceptions on the day with Aristos coming within a couple of meters of the hole.

After everyone had finished their round Darren Lehmann and Wayne Phillips spoke over lunch. They had everyone silent and attentive as they spoke about being with David Hookes when he died and how they would like to help get the message out how stupid violent incidents can affect so many people. Then they had everyone in fits of laughter with tales of their days playing cricket for Australia. Darren then ran our auction that was a roaring success thanks to everyone that donated prizes and all the people that reached deep into their pockets.
