The Sammy D Foundation recognises that time is valuable and that the time donated by volunteers is an incredible contribution. Volunteering for the Sammy D Foundation is a rewarding way to meet new people and make a difference in the community.
There are many ways to support the Sammy D Foundation with your time and skills.
Fundraising and Event Support
Each year the Sammy D Foundation runs and participates in various events and activities that raise funds to educate and mentor young people in South Australia.
You can be sure that whatever your role, you'll be surrounded by a fun and passionate team of Sammy D Foundation staff and volunteers who love meeting new people and are committed to making a difference in the community.
Volunteer Mentoring
Sammy D Foundation Mentors provide young people in the community who are considered 'at risk' with a positive role model to demonstrate that adults can give, and should receive, respect (and will make an occasional mistake).
To ensure consistency for their mentee, Sammy D Foundation Mentors are asked to make a commitment of a 1-2 hour session per week for a minumum of six months. The aim of these sessions is to help mentees to strengthen their pro-social behaviour and life skills.
Sammy D Foundation Mentors are provided with training and supervision from Sammy D Foundation Staff.
Education Workshop Support

The Sammy D Foundation offers a range of education programs within schools, sporting clubs and community organisations and relies on the support of volunteers to facilitate workshops that aim to provide students with the skills and knowledge to make safe and positive choices.
The Sammy D Foundation ensures that all Education Volunteers are trained and supervised and supported to guarantee high-quality education programs.
Volunteer Recognition
Our hard working and dedicated volunteers contribute around 26% of our organisation's total working hours annually, the equivalant of having 1.3 extra staff on deck.
In 2018 our events, admin and program volunteers collectively contributed 3,424 hours, bringing the total number of of volunteer hours contributed since the founding of the Foundation to 40,939. This is truly outstanding and we are incredibly grateful.
All volunteer hours are recorded, with your service calculated cumulatively from your very first day. We then bring all volunteers together at least once a year to recognise individuals who have reached significant milestones and to share in our achievements.
Our volunteers are our strength and we value their passion, professionalism, and overall dedication to supporting us to achieve our goals.
