Brett Duncanson | Chairperson 

Former Port Adelaide Football Club President, Brett Duncanson was appointed as the Chairman of the Sammy D Foundation's Board of Management in 2013. Brett’s main focus is driving the sustainability of the Sammy D Foundation so it can continue to help reduce incidents of alcohol-fuelled violence among young people. In addition to his Directorship roles at the Port Adelaide Football Club which spanned 15 years, Brett was also the owner and managing director of award-winning engineering company, MacWeld Industries, where he grew the company from a 3 person to 160 person workforce over 27 years before selling it in 2012.

Dale Mazzachi | Deputy Chairperson

Dale is a Principal at Adelaide law firm, Norman Waterhouse Lawyers.  Practising in the areas of governance, regulatory and employment law, Dale has an extensive background of community involvement and is the current Treasurer of the Australian Institute of Administrative Law (SA Chapter). Dale grew up in southern Adelaide and has a background in sports education, having worked as a supervisor and swimming coach with State Swim.  He has seen firsthand the benefits of working with young people. Dale is passionate about the ethos of the Sammy D Foundation, and is privileged to have the opportunity to assist in the growth of the Foundation.

Neil Davis | Secretary

After losing his son to “One- Punch” thrown by gate-crashers at a party, Neil and his wife formed the Sammy D Foundation. The Sammy D Foundation believes that every young person deserves to be loved, supported and protected. Many need guidance and positive role modelling to equip them with the skills and confidence needed to not only avoid dangerous situations, but to also live healthier, safer and successful lives.

Neil not only delivers education progams within schools, but is also a source of strength to grieving parents who seek him out for guidance, advice and support.

Nick Wagner | Finance Director

Nick was appointed as Finance Director in April 2021. Nick is the Head of Finance Systems and Process at Viva Energy Retail (the parent entity of OTR), and is an experienced finance executive with over 20 years working in large ASX listed entities and multinational service companies, both in Australia and overseas. Nick’s governance experience includes previous roles in sporting and educational organisations, including a 3-year period as Finance Director of HockeySA. Nick is committed to sharing his financial, strategic governance and compliance experience to ensure that Sammy D foundation can continue its important work supporting young people for many years to come.

Darren Pike | Board Director

Darren has worked in the sales and management field for just over 20 years, directly within advertising and media organisations, including Newscorp, Austereo, Fairfax Media, CareerOne, Fresh FM and Nova Entertainment. Achieving success for his partners and clients through measurable results is what drives Darren now in a consulting role with SO Strategic. With “hands on” management experience through franchise ownership and direct business management, Darren was invited to join the Board of Management in 2016, after his significant sales and marketing expertise contributed to the delivery of a very successful Gala Dinner event.

Liam Hunt | Board Director

Liam is a communications professional currently working in the finance sector. Liam has over a decade of corporate experience across a variety of sectors including government and retail. He has a long history of community work as a former Member Director of CanTeen Australia, executive committee member of Cancer Voices SA and President of the Flinders Soccer Club. With a young family, Liam is passionate about increasing awareness of the harm caused by violence and bullying. He believes that by supporting young people, they’ll foster respectful relationships, discover safely and make good life choices to reach their full potential.

Rosanna Mangiarelli | Board Director

Rosanna Mangiarelli joined the Seven Network in 2004 as a reporter, presenter and producer. She has been the host of Channel 7’s Today Tonight for 12 years and also presents 7’s 4pm News. Rosanna completed her Journalism degree at the University of SA and has worked in various media outlets, including the ABC. Rosanna is a proud and busy mum of 3, yet dedicates her time to various charities. Rosanna joined the Board of Management in 2018 and is passionate about helping give young people a positive outlook and supporting them make safe and sensible choices.

Paul Bauer | Board Director

Paul has spent the past 25 years working in professional sporting organisations across a range of different roles and is currently the General Manager Commercial at the Adelaide Football Club. He focuses on a customer centric approach, understanding value drivers and delivering meaningful and measurable outcomes for commercial partners and their people. Prior to the that, Paul spent 12 years at the Adelaide 36ers as both a player and an administrator. He is passionate about his family and his friends and will provide support, experience and expertise to the Sammy D Foundation to positively impact the community.

Steve Yeo | Board Director

Steve brings experience across a range of  activities including; franchising and health and education. He has held various finance positions within SA Health, and senior positions within publicly listed companies (NYSE & ASX), partnership organisations and not-for-profits. Steve has previously led successful strategies in his roles as Regional Director Financial Turnaround (SA Health), CEO (HPS Pharmacies) and GM (St John Ambulance).

Previous Board positions include SA Group Enterprises (Minda Inc) and Australian Hearts. Steve has a Masters of Business Administration, and Marketing and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Kathy Nagle | Board Director

Kathy Nagle is an experienced Board member having served on the Boards of St Michaels College, the Lakeside Retirement Village and the Port Adelaide Football Club.  

She is an accomplished Chief Executive Officer having worked within the private healthcare sector for over 20 years. She is currently an Independent Healthcare Consultant. Originally from a nursing background, Kathy has found her passion lies in business management, strategic planning and advice, quality improvement, organisational change and risk management. With interests in human resources planning and management, alternate revenue streams and creating efficiencies utilising IT and systemisation, Kathy enjoys assisting organisations reaching their strategic milestones and evaluating their overall performance.

Georgia Tsiantas | Board Director

As a seasoned organisational development and human resources professional with 20+ years of experience, Georgia has successfully led initiatives that drive leadership development, cultural transformation, and service delivery improvements. As the National Senior Manager for Organisational Development at Calvary Health Care, she has demonstrated a proven ability to align organisational goals with employee attraction, engagement, and retention. An extensive background spanning healthcare, legal, finance, and logistics sectors, coupled with an Executive MBA, a Master of Industrial and Organisational Psychology, and a Prosci® Change Practitioner certification, equips Georgia with a unique perspective on organisational development and improvement. Georgia is committed to fostering a culture of growth and excellence on the board.

Shane Farley | Board Director

 Shane is the Head of Community, Sustainability & Corporate Affairs at Beyond Bank Australia and has more than 20 years of senior-level experience working across multiple industries, including finance, government, education, and elite sports.

He has an MBA from the University of South Australia and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Through his work, he enjoys the opportunity to deliver impact through the Bank’s sustainability strategy and community program, which includes partnerships with more than 5,000 NFPs across Australia. He is passionate about seeing young people achieve their dreams, hopes and aspirations and is motivated strongly by the work of the Sammy D Foundation each and every day.
