COVID-19 - FAQ's

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How is COVID 19 impacting and affecting the SDF?

A: We’re in the same boat as many businesses and organisations - COVID-19 is affecting our day-to-day operations and has and probably will continue to impact our fundraising and events. However, it’s not all doom and gloom – it’s provided us an opportunity to consider alternative delivery options, such as e-delivery so that we can continue to reduce bullying and violence and alcohol and drug misuse in our community.

Q: Is the Sammy D Foundation headquarters still open?

A: As of Friday March 27, the Sammy D Foundation is working remotely, but you can still contact us on 8374 1678.

Q: Is the Sammy D Foundation still delivering education programs across South Australia?

A: Yes, we certainly are. We can deliver our bullying prevention, violence prevention and alcohol and other drug presentations via an e-delivery model. We can even integrate with your online learning tools. Please reach out via bookings@sammyd.org.au or on 8374 1678. We are taking bookings for Term 2!

Q: What do I do if I’ve already got a program booked in and I’m wanting the change it?

A: We’re more than happy to discuss or rearrange delivery options to suit the directive of your school or sporting club. Contact us at bookings@sammyd.org.au or on 8374 1678.

Q: Is the Sammy D Foundation still providing mentoring support to young people in the community?

A: Yes we are. As of Thursday March 26 we moved from face to face mentoring to e-mentoring!

Q: Is the Sammy D Foundation still accepting mentee referrals?

A: Yes, at this point we are. Although we’re mindful the impact or affect it could have on a young person if we were to start services, and have to suspend them due to COVID 19. Each service is being assessed on the information at hand.

Q: Is the Sammy D Foundation still looking for new volunteers?

A: Yes, of course we are. However many of our fundraising activities and community events have been cancelled/postponed due to COVID 19. However, we are always looking for good mentors to join our mentoring team.

Q: Are the Sammy D Foundation’s annual events still taking place?

A: Unfortunately at this stage some of our events have been postponed and may be cancelled. We’ll be following government and health professional directives to determine whether or not it is safe and appropriate to hold our other annual events as planned. We’ll keep everyone updated on our social media platforms and website.

Q: How can I help the Sammy D Foundation?

A: If people are in a position to do so, the Foundation appreciates the support of individuals and community at this tough time. Being a values based organisation, the Foundation encourages all people to support those within their community and to role model our values being courage, respectful relationships, trust and inclusion of all. You can make a financial donation to our cause, by clicking here.
