Taking Prevention Education to the Iron Triangle

In February, we packed our bags (and plenty of workshop materials) and headed up to the Iron Triangle to deliver a big week of prevention education across the Port Augusta region.

Over the course of the trip, we had the privilege of visiting eight schools—Flinders View Primary School, Caritas College, Leigh Creek Area School, Willsden Primary School, Marree Aboriginal School, Carlton School, and Port Augusta West Primary School. Across these schools, we delivered 10 presentations and 13 workshops, reaching a total of 621 students with important messages around violence prevention and alcohol and other drug education.

Each session was a chance to connect with young people, encourage honest conversations, and help students build the skills to make safer choices. Whether we were in classrooms, gymnasiums, or school halls, the energy and engagement from students made the experience incredibly rewarding.

We know how valuable these conversations are, especially in regional areas where access to this kind of education can be limited. That’s why we’re so excited to be able to deliver our primary prevention programs right across the Far North of South Australia.

This is all possible thanks to the support of two generous private philanthropist trusts—the Perpetual Foundation – Kevin Barnes Gift Fund Endowment and The Fred P Archer Charitable Trust. Their funding is helping us reach whole communities with the knowledge and tools to prevent violence before it starts.

We’re so grateful to be part of this work and can’t wait to keep the momentum going.
